Our patches are designed to upgrade minor installed versions (e.g. version 1.0 to version 1.1) for both trial and licensed installations of Port80 Software products. Given that IIS is a service, and a patch will update the related ISAPI filter in your Port80 tool running within that service, we recommend these instructions to successfully apply a patch:

Steps to Patch All Port80 Software Products for Minor Version Upgrades

  1. Close out your IIS manager, the MMC, and any open Port80 Software products' UI and Setting Managers.
  2. Stop IIS on the command line with the command "net stop w3svc".
  3. Select your patch below (if available), download it, and run patch to install new code on your IIS server.
  4. Confirm your successful patch with our InstallCheck utility.
  5. Restart IIS and then test your updated Port80 tool -- especially any of your settings that have been previously customized from their original defaults.
  6. If InstallCheck reports a successful upgrade, but you are not seeing any of the expected functionality of your Port80 tool, try restarting the server again and retesting.
  7. If you patch fails or you need to do a major version upgrade, please follow the full uninstall/reinstall steps below.
Our patch system works for minor version upgrades, but your will need to do a full uninstall/reinstall for a major version upgrade. Additionally, sometimes ISAPI filters can fail during installation (get install tips), especially for Web servers under request load, and a reinstallation may be required. Follow these instructions to do a full uninstallation/reinstallation for a Port80 tool:

Steps to Full Uninstall/Reinstall All Port80 Software Products for Major Version Upgrades or Bad Installations

  1. If you need a major version upgrade (e.g. version 1.3 to version 2.0), please contact Port80 Software Sales to get a quote. You will be provided a key license key when you purchase the major version upgrade (learn more on upgrades).
  2. If you experience a bad installation, have licensed the product, and have worked with Port80 Software's support team to determine a reinstall may help to solve a poor installation, make sure to request a license transfer key from Port80 as well.
  3. Close out your IIS manager, the MMC, and any open Port80 Software products' UI and Setting Managers.
  4. Stop IIS on the command line with the command "net stop w3svc".
  5. Uninstall the old version of your Port80 tool with our InstallCheck utility.
  6. Find your Port80 tool here, go to the product home page, click the Try button on the right navigation, and follow the steps to download your new Port80 Software installer --then install new code on your IIS server. Make sure IIS is still stopped.
  7. Confirm your successful reinstallation with our InstallCheck utility.
  8. Restart IIS and then test your updated Port80 tool.
  9. If InstallCheck reports a successful installation, but you are not seeing any of the expected functionality of your Port80 tool, try restarting the server again and retesting.
  10. Apply your new or updated license key and activate the software.
